MSA Museum Society is embarking on a new venture, taking us on an exciting journey of discovery into the future history of Abbotsford. Continuing to build on its 40 year legacy in Abbotsford in dynamic ways, and in concert with the City and other sponsors, “MSA Museum Society” will soon become an “interpretive centre”.
These changes will encompass an interactive “interpretive centre” and display areas focusing on the History & Heritage of Abbotsford, our Pioneers and their day to day lives, Archeology & First Nations, Ecology, and Industrial activities including agriculture, brick-making, Mill Lake and the lumber industry etc…. and of course the Trethewey House Heritage Site. In addition, there will be an outdoor staging area & band shell, parkland and display areas for community events, antique farm machinery displays, a small theatre, coffee shop & food service facilities and new parking areas.
Abbotsford has a unique and significant history. A “Heritage Discovery Centre” can have a historic focus grounded in community traditions and values yet still be a dynamic contemporary facility. Our vision is for the people of Abbotsford to be actively involved in telling their stories, creating exhibits, making presentations and contributing to many educational programs and activities.“We will interpret the past, present and future of the people, industry and environment of Abbotsford.
