The MSA Museum Society provides interactive resource kits geared towards elementary and intermediate grades as well as other groups wishing to enhance students’ learning experience. Our goal is to inspire the students to find out more about local, provincial and Canadian heritage and to explore their own roots in order to find their own roots within all three. The kits explore topics such as pioneer life, the foundation of our laws and our justice system and topics related to the evolution of Abbotsford and surrounding areas. The contents of the kits is guided by the BC teaching curriculum and are generally rented to school teachers, scouting groups and other educators for use in the classroom. Each kit contains an extensive teaching manual for the given topic, lesson plans, worksheets, pioneer interviews and activities that can be adapted to suit different grades along with ephemera and objects for the students to touch and feel. The Museum is in the process up updating the existing kits as well as creating a number of new ones to reflect the current needs of educators. As of next semester, we will be able to provide you with the following kits: Please click on the link above to see a description of each kit. We are also currently working on assembling an Archaeology themed kit as well as a Viking kit and a Remembrance Day kit.
