 Outlaws and Heroes

The Outlaws and Heroes kit is all about law enforcement. The extensive teaching guide explores why we have laws, the first Abbotsford police detachment, the prisons and so on, but we’ve tried to make it really fun by including real historical events and persons that the students may be familiar with. We cover some famous outlaws, like Billy the Kid, Billy Miner and Jesse James in order to explore why people committed crimes, who was vulnerable and in order to find connections to us and our own society. We discuss the first railroads, as we delve into train robberies, and we discuss Abby PD and the RCMP, and of course, there are artifacts to go with the themes.

Our educational kits include historical objects and ephemera along with lesson plans and write ups.  They have been compiled to enhance student's learning experience in the classroom.
